Role of private Sectors in Investment
FLORICULTURE

Ethiopia is considered to be one of the best quality flower producers of African countries but flower production and exportation is still at its infant stage though the market potential is very high in the world particularly in Europe and the Middle East countries. In the past, few companies have been producing and exporting a very limited volume and types of flowers. Golden Rose and Ethio-Dream projects are worth mentioning. What is encouraging however, at present is that more domestic and foreign private investors in the form of direct investment are joining the sector. Most of these projects are found in Oromia because the region has more favorable soil and climate for growing all types of flowers. It has also high labor concentration and access to international markets. So Investors can take these unique advantages if they come and invest in the region. Currently, more than 87 private sectors, with total capital of beyond 3 billion, are engaged in flower production. As a result, a number of job opportunities are created in the region.
